Losing steam and what to do about it

I haven't really figured out why. But I have my suspicions. Maybe I'm losing steam because I've been trying to do a lot at once and still worry I'm not doing enough. I'm muddled. Next, what?

Psychologists call it battle fatigue. The symptoms include headaches, back pain, irritability, inability to concentrate, insomnia, tiredness, depression, anxiety, and partial amnesia to name few. Huh?

But, I'm just tired, a bit anxious, and maybe have partial amnesia to pain. Battle fatigue? I call it "losing steam". Stalling.

We all go through it. Battle fatigue. Losing steam. Too often too much. Sometimes, it's worry, frustration, and resentment that causes it. And negativity is always a BIG energy sucker.

So, what to do now? If you're like me, here are a few things I find helpful:

  • Walk away. Declare temporary ceasefire. With no definite return. Take time to just be.
  • Read good stuff. Read stuff that can inspire you. Remember, garbage in, garbage out.
  • Make some lifestyle changes. Unless we realize and understand how we are maintaining the situation we don't like, we'll probably continue making the same mistakes.
  • Be self-critical but kind. But, keep your mind on the correction, not on rationalization, excuses, or rationalization. Grow up.
  • Think positively and realistically. Make it a habit. Positive thinking requires effort and attention; negativity happens easily without trying.
  • Be patient. Have the ability to accept what you don't like without becoming resentful.
  • Rearrange your priorities. Maintain a healthy balance between what you want from your situation and what it forces you to accept.
These are times when we need to de-clutter our lives of all the "drama". To make space. To refill it with new things. Things that can inspire us back to get-up-and-go... again.

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them." ~G. Bernard Shaw
